Hadogenes troglodytes is also known as the African Flat Rock Scorpion. It has a very flattened appearance, and holds it's tail to the side to facilitate crawling into small crevices. This is reported to be the largest scorpion in the world, with some being measured at 9 inches in length. The one pictured here is a male that was the first scorpion I ever owned. I purchased it in a pet shop in the Bronx, New York. This scorpion was an adult when I bought it and it lived in my home for another six years. They are quite impressive and make excellent pets. Home
